Father, son and good friend Montana elk hunt 2017, the smiles, the fun that we had is something as a dad I will never forget and the sarcasm out of a 13 year boy (well old man do you need help up the mountain). We were in elk everyday, my son has worked hard this year with shooting, calling and working hard at his football season to boot. Dylan did the major part of cow calling this bull for me. we wanted Dylan to get the shot, but the bull was out of his range. Dylan called the bull into 50 yard for me. Dylan laid on his back in the sage to cow call, had two trees to hide beside. I could not be a prouder dad. Thank you Dylan, not the biggest bull I have ever shot, but the one I will never forget. Dylan did manage to get a shoot at cow, and found out first hand how quick a animal will jump the string, clean miss, but smiled.

Awesome story! Glad you guys were able to have a great time and punch a tag as well  :upthumb:

Great sorry, thank you for sharing! Congrats on the bull!

Congratulations on your Montana bull... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Young ones are the future of our sport... Glad he's having fun early....

Congrats on the bull and the great young man you are raising. You will never forget this one and you have an elk hunting partner for life I bet.  :upthumb:

The one thing I can say with out any doubt is that my son Dylan thinks about football, bowhunting, trapping and running our hounds on lions & bobcats. We came home early from this hunt to get the bull cut up and in the freezer and Dylan went back to school so he could go to football practice and he had a game the next day. Dylan scored a 80 yard kick off return for a TD and had a super interception and ran it back and almost scored.

If you have kids get them into hunting and sports.

Way to go, Dylan!  :train:

Awesome!  I'm planning my son's first elk hunt for when he turns 13.  As of today we have 7 more years to go.  I hope it turns out like yours.
