First time I\'ve ever been. I had a blast! Shot this guy two hours into the hunt. Private ground with no dogs.

The taxidermist will have him done in about 7 months

Anyone else Pheasant hunt? I plan on going to Kansas city, MO in March on ranch to hunt them.

You\'re now ruined ...

Wild pheasants exploding underfoot are right up there with elk bugling! Not many 2 pound birds can say that!

Beautiful bird! Pheasant hunting is a blast. And cubing them up and frying them is a great way to go :upthumb:

i\'m tainted.

i went with an older japanese guy and a younger guy..my coworker. they brought their German short hair pointers.

i met them next to this big Budweiser bottling plant. oh o. it was a farm hunt!! i had no idea. the dogs had fun, and so did my friends. they couldnt shoot at all. i bet they miss the sides of a barn from the inside. big fat, slow rising birds. i swear, one dog caught one. a bird would flush..

okay..fly up. and BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM...six misses. i would have time to ask, \"you guys done?\" then bam. i kill the bird. which was good since it allowed the bird to get further away so i didnt obliterate them with shot.

what was fun, was after the hunt. my friends ate lunch and i went all around the field grid and cleaned up all the missed birds. which were much much more nervous and flew much faster. one dog loved me...

i would love to chase some wild birds. some day. my bird bucket list are bobwhites, chukkar..and wild pheasant. (no need to mention the turkey subspecies) running around Alaska shooting a .22 at sooty grouse would rock too!!

^ at least you had a good time!

I\'m going on a ranch in March to hunt them. I\'m not sure how I\'ll like working with the dogs. I had a lot of fun just walking through the CRP by myself. With a dog it\'s going to be different I know that much.

The dogs are my favorite part. They are amazing to watch.

Yeah, good dogs are a ton of fun to watch! Bad ones, on the other hand, can ruin a hunt. Hope you get some decent dogs. If so, you\'ll probably see a heck of a lot more birds than you did just walking the fields on your own :upthumb:

I learned early I do not have the mental fortitude to train a gun dog. A retriever, yes. Gun dog. I would fail. :)
