What elevation are most elk in mid September ? I've got a several spots in my sights but now I'm feeling the pressure of making the best decision I can.....All tips are welcome thank you
Your question will depend on the unit(s) and how much water we get late summer and into early fall. Also, are you going for a meat hunt or trophy quality bulls only?
This will be my first archery elk hunt this year and in CO. I have soloed bivy style hunted mule deer in many western states and seem to find the elk about 1000 feet below bachelor groups of mule deer. My Mule deer hunts are right around 10,500-11K....if CO high country is the same that would be the ballpark I would look as well in the high country.
