The area I elk hunt has a lower deer population due to poachers and cats, but this year I have seen more bucks than ever!
While out scouting last weekend I came up on these two guys

No deer here............................ they all ran to Colorado

I don\'t have a pic handy, but we videoed a double drop velvet 6x6 in 16A last September. About the last week of the month too. A real stud! I have not applied for a deer tag in NM since 2011. Buddy missed a really nice 5x5 in that unit that year too. Not many deer but some nice ones if you find them.

A double drop??? NICE!!!

Yes, only one I have ever seen. Whitetail or Mule deer. Had 5\" drops and deep forks. Small eye guards , but most deer in NM seem to have small or no eye guards anyway.
