Are you willing and comfortable saying what you think about topics in question on this forum? Is it okay to be wrong? Does it bother you to be alone in your opinion, or in a small minority. I am just wondering.
I would like to see more questions from newbies, and read some, \"I don\'t know, but .........\" In my opinion, a healthy group discussion is where everyone feels free to give their opinion. If someone disagrees, they give an explanation, and we all learn. The most unhealthy forum discussion is where some guru gives the answer or has in the past, and a bunch of people echo that talking point.
A healthy forum discussion is respectful, but not a situation where people feel they either shut up, or risk offending the guru. For the record, we have no gurus here.

I feel I can say what I want without being hammered with negative comments. I want someone to tell me if they would do something differently. It can open my eyes to a new perspective. I might be looking at things the wrong way and a different opinion can make me think twice or learn something new.

Swede, the trouble is that the various forums -- like this one -- tend to attract like-minded folks, so right there you\'ve cut down on \"disagreements\".

This forum is very accepting of all levels of experience and, as far as I can tell, is open to disagreements or alternatives.

I believe we have a broad skill base here without any guru to pay homage to. In fact, we have a significantly wider skill base than another forum, where the resident guru ran off so many people that were trying to help carry on the mission.

Don\'t worry bnsafe, we can always use a helpful guru, as long as they don\'t get infatuated with their own self importance.

I\'ve been learning stuff here from guys that have only had a few elk encounters.

Everything that is shared has value

I agree with everything that has been said for sure! I am not afraid to voice my opinion because I know everyone here is respectful. I am also not afraid of asking a stupid question and getting beat up for it. It is great to learn from all of the people here, regardless of how many years experiece they have :upthumb:

I feel very comfortable here. I am asking newbie questions which would not be taken well on some older established forums.

I know I say stupid things. It would be nice if people would correct anything that I say that is wrong, otherwise, I am not learning from my mistakes.

There is tactful critiquing and debating. It is difficult to put down the words to respectfully disagree with someone. Personally, my writing skills are lacking. Also, I do not have enough experience to debate hunting tactics.

At work, I have had a bit of practice calling people out on things. I am always surprised when IT professionals says things like: \"well, we have always done things that way.\" Even after 30+ years in software development, I am not a guru. Perhaps a mentor for a minor amount of things, but no guru. How can you know it all and have experienced everything?

Thinking outside the box and trying something new sometimes yields surprisingly positive results.

I feel that members generally feel comfortable here. I hope that lurkers and friends, that hear about the forum, are encouraged to join in and participate. To me that is also a sign of a healthy discussion atmosphere.

Opinion?? What opinion??

I got way to many of um and when need feel free to exspress um here and anywhere else...

But this forum is great and has a lota knowledgeable folks that don\'t mind sharin\' their knowledge... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Gotta say ... I\'d sure like to see more pimping of products, Swede. (A book, maybe?)

Just kidding!

Actually, I\'d like to have something to pimp ... but I\'m afraid that door may have closed!

Tick, I fully support people giving commentary on products. It can be either good or bad. It is our opinion. What exasperated me, was a hunter bragging up a product they had never used, and I sincerely believe is a detriment to the archer that would try it. I just won\'t brag on a product just to sell sponsorship on this forum. To me that is pimping.

BTW, have you read this great tree stand elk hunting book? I don\'t know if the author has any suggestions for getting over a phobia of heights, but I have a few ideas for you. :D

I have read that book, Swede ... and actually plan on reading it again before the season -- or at least skimming a few of the more important parts.

As far as heights go ... I\'ve got a harness, and that has helped more than anything! Without that, I\'m a little less confident.

Tick, just be sure the harness is attached to the tree at all times and you will be fine.

How do you get away with saying things like that? LOL! I\'ve been threatened by higher ups for mentioning E.N\'s name. Hmmmmm! Guess you didn\'t mention his name???????

Anyhow, I usually call a spade a spade and have bitten my tongue several times when I\'d rather really unload.

WW, we really don\'t want this to be a bashing forum, but I will try to advertise our strengths and point out the deficiencies with others. I guess it is just like Ford and Chevy do when they advertise. If anyone out there thinks the thread depicts them in any negative light, they must recognize their faults as well as we do, Hmmmmm! :D

I feel free to say anything I want (tactfully and respectful of course)

I know for sure I have said a few times \"I have never elk hunted, but this is my opinion\" or \"I don\'t, but I believe..\"
I have also taken a few stands by myself or against what people may believe, but when it\'s done we are all still friendly :upthumb:

This is a great forum and certainly is like no other. We have so many people with so many different skillsets, tools, experience, knowledge, etc.

I enjoy signing in here everyday and seeing the new questions or threads, reading how peoples trips went, hopefully see a lot of animals down this year, and more.

Also, I look at it like this. We are a site of strangers and already we treat each other like friends or family.

I\'ve been invited to peoples camps, my freezer has temporarily resupplied by Colorado Russ, and I know I have given some few treats away too.
(Speaking of which, BRAD, your stuff is coming this week :silent: )

You guys are all great and I am very happy I found this forum.

\" Are you willing and comfortable saying what you think about topics\" I am but I have not participated much in this type of thing previously. My personal hunting friends and I are quite frank and honest with one another about things. It seems when looking back at some of my posts they tend to have a slightly \'snarky\' attitude emanating from them. Thanks for the patience!
