Found me a new hunting aid

Like all of ya\'ll I\'m always looking for something that would aid me in being able to hunt more... Well I found this thing called a Water Walker when reading through my 2016 annual hunting issue of Delta Waterfowl... It appears to be just the ticket for a old fart like me that now finds it difficult at times to remain standing while shooting at those flying feathered critters... The water is usually pretty cold at that time of year... Trust me I know from experience... :D :D

Here\'s a link to their website...

I\'m now accepting donations since the thing cost more with shipping to me than a new duck gun....

Phil, That looks like it could help an unstable hunter get around in water with a muddy bottom. I know how the feet want to float when you lose your balance with chest waders on. I have been there. It looks hilarious to the onlookers watching you flail your arms around trying to get up. Sometimes the best thing to do is stick your gun in the mud to right yourself. Then of course you have to find a stick to clean the mud from the barrel.

I would build something similar out of PVC pipe fittings. Glue it all up and paint it up nice with some camo paint.

Another idea would be cut some of that pink insulation board in the pattern you want then coat it with fiberglass for strength. My neighbor made a real nice one man boat for duck hunting a shallow pond by doing that.

Maybe one of them fishing belly boats would work. You could use it to fish too. :D

I\'ve tried one of those U shaped float tubes and almost drown... :downthumb: :downthumb: They are less stable than me standing on my own...

I do like the idea of building one myself... I might just look into that... :upthumb: :upthumb:

What size PVC pipe would you think we should use for the main flotation body?????

I would use 4\". You might be able to use some 4x2x4 Tees and make a vertical bar to rest your gun on too!

Maybe make 2 pontoons one for each side and fasten wood to the top. Lots of options.

Would you use schedule 40 or just regular 4\" sewer pipe?????

I would probably use the schedule 40. That thin stuff isn\'t very strong and when it is cold it would break even easier.

It all about being legal for where I want to use it during duck season...

We have a area on the WMA we hunt that the AGFC has made walk-in only no boats allowed... I want to make sure it wouldn\'t be defined as a boat to them...

If it\'s not legal then I want even try to do anything but I may if is legal for me to use...

We have a Styrofoam plant close that I might be able to get flotation foam from at a decent price... So that my be the way I go if I do try to have someone build one for me...

Is it in Bayou Meto? I would call the AGFC and explain that you do not sit on it that it is a hand held flotation device used for stability. I wouldn\'t think any game officer would complain about it in your situation. But them some young guys like to make a name for themselves and can be real Aholes.

Yes it is Bayou Meto and I have already sent a email to the lady I get the proper information from... I sent it the day I posted this and she hasn\'t gotten back with me yet so I figure she is on vacation or very busy... If I don\'t hear from her next week I go another route and call someone else...

Finally got a answer from the AGFC on the legality of this in the area I wanted to use it....

One word response was :downthumb: \"negative\" :downthumb: from the Captain in charge of enforcement.... :downthumb: :downthumb:

Oh well maybe the boys will be able to float my casket out to mine and my ol\' labs favorite hole when the time comes... :D :D

Wow! I can\'t believe they turned down that. Geez you don\'t even sit on it.

You probably have enough kids and grandkids that could carry you out to hunt.

You know I have thought about that....  A chair secured between 2 stout poles and 4 stout friends \"bearing an Ol\' Arky\"....

I don\'t think that would go over very well... :D :D

Hey... I could get a camel or elephant... :haha: :haha:

Nope that wouldn\'t work either since they outlawed horses and mules years ago... :downthumb: :downthumb:

I guess it is settled then.....You will parachute in then be picked up by a long rope dangling from a helicopter! Hold on tight :D

Some crazy uneducated nimrod would probably shoot me thinking I was the biggest duck in the world... :haha: :haha:
