Freezer Size?

Can everyone tell me the cu ft size of your freezer and how many big game animals fit in it?

Before last year\'s move, I sold my 2nd fridge. I need a freezer because of regular overflow of prepared meals and freezing water jugs. I might as well go in with the idea that I will at least fill my deer tag since they travel behind my tent each morning. There is a possibility the freezer needs to hold one deer and one elk.

I have a 5 with pork, chicken, frozen vegies. I have a 7 with an elk in it. I have a 13 with some deer and fish in it. I have a 21 with lots more deer, turtle, turkey, vegies, fish, and fruit. I have a spare 15 in case I run out of space.

I take the 13 hunting with me. I have an inverter in my truck and a generator. No worries about spoilage. :upthumb:

I would bet a 13-15 would serve your needs.

Wow Terry. You must never buy fish or meat at the store. Thanks for the sizes.

Thanks Dan. Another good benchmark to size one up.

I may need to account for the frozen meals I prepare in Winter. I make stew, chili, pasta sauce, burritos, etc to freeze.

I will look at 16-20 to avoid needing a 2nd one. Cheaper to run 1 than 2. Plus, looking at ones with built in alarms.

 Terry, you mind if I send my boys over for dinner one night? Sounds like you have enough to last a few years!

I was tempted to buy one this weekend with the 10% off sale.

Just in case anyone is looking to buy a new freezer, Lowe\'s and probably Home Depot, run their largest appliance sale over the 4th of July weekend. July is a rare 3 paycheck month, therefore, July is a better month for me to bankroll the purchase and any other hunting related items.

I chatted with a Lowe\'s sales person. He indicated that they wet everyone\'s appetites with some deals leading up to the 4th, however, the biggest savings is the 4th of July weekend. He said appliance delivery may take up to 3 weeks because of the high sales over the holiday weekend. Plenty of time to freeze water jugs and prepared foods for opening week.

I am looking at a 20 cu ft freezer with a temperature alarm. I put a lot of water jugs and blue ice packs in the freezer for camping which lasts me 4 days before I have to buy ice.

We have a 16 cu. foot freezer. We can put a whole deer and elk in it with room for quite a few other items, like the leftovers from last night\'s spaghetti dinner. I can\'t imagine why you would need more than a 20 cu foot freezer, unless you are storing up in preparation for the Apocalypse.

Nah, the Apocalypse already happened according to the Mayans.

There is a smaller version of the 20 cu ft I was looking at. I probably only need 1.5 shelves for the mass produced frozen meals I make in winter. It\'s the water jugs that take up a lot of space. I take 5-6 gallon frozen water jugs in September.
