i am finally feeling \"back\" from my recent hunting trip.
we didnt get a deer..but long story. i\'ll save it. i did get to bow range of a big mulie and i\'m pretty proud of that. and i did it with a herd of about 50 deer. i found a new spot that they are coming thru. saved for next year!!
but back on topic. it was COLD. snow, rain, sleet, fog.. and this is in the AZ desert. i wore everything from my list i call, \"level orange\". hiking in the low 20\'s is a challenge. you have to balance sweating your butt off, and freezing it off. i was doing wardrobe changes like a supermodel. taking things off, adding things as the weather played with us. it was a roller coaster. i was in a shirt once..and then a puffy jacket an hour later.
and none of my camo matches..i think i got it down.
four layers on top. merino shirt, lightweight summer shirt, puffy jacket (one with a hood is a bonus), outer jacket.
two layers on bottom, not including my unmentionables. merino tights, regular pants.
rain gear in the pack.
sidenote. my toyota tacoma was a rockstar. multiple stream crossings..coming out of the desert, i pulled a full sized Dodge out of the worst one.
pic..of \"level orange\" ignore the stupid look on my face..we were staring at a big couse in an unstalkable position.
