Anybody try frogg toggs rain gear while hunting? Im going to Idaho this fall on a DIY hunt this September and I'm in need of some lightweight rain gear. I dont plan on busting through brush with this stuff but can it withstand normal spot and stalk hunting without being torn to threads? Anybody have any other suggestions?

My suggestion would be Core4 Torrent rain gear. I have used it a great deal and it has held up well busting through brush, it is very quiet, and you can get a pretty good price on Camofire if they ever have them on again. Good luck in your search.

Just an FYI camofire has some kings rain gear on right now for a good price. I have a co worker that has this rain gear and he said it works great.

Thanks for the replies. I am trying to keep cost and weight down thats why I was interested in them the most.

I have some pants and a jacket that are two layers of fleece with a membrane between them that is similar to Gore Tex. I can wear the pants in any kind of hunting weather, and be comfortable. If it's really cold I can layer underneath them. The jacket will always be in my backpack as it folds up easily. If it's cold i'll be wearing it, and if it's really cold i'll layer under it.

With this system I don't need any specific rain gear.

I use Rain Suede packable gear from Cabellas. Very light and quiet. Later in year,a Kings Mtn parka w/ removable liner and the packable pants.
ID is colder and wetter then NM then ,so I would also look at MT50(?) gear from Cabellas. More heavy duty.
I use Cabellas Berber fleece w/windstopper for warmth layers.
