Yesterday morning I got up early while the kids were sleeping and went for a hike.
I crossed a river and up over a ridge then dropped down into a small draw
It was 6am and I was walking thru heavy frost on the grass

Elevation was 9500ft

Made the mosquitoes pretty scarce!

That had to be a great feeling. I love the cooler temps and it always strikes that feeling deep inside that the season is coming.

Do you elk hunt near where you live? Or were you out at your camp?

We were up camping and playing with the ATVs and dirt bike... and a little scouting :)

Awesome!!!! Sounds like you had a good time.

I like the gopro picture as well :upthumb:

Nice you got away, I\'ve been really busy with working and the farm or I\'d be in the hills also. We lived in Kremmling Colorado 1990 to 1994 and in those 4 years we saw snow in every month of the year except August. We had the Ag teacher from the high school living close by and he said that we had 18 growing days and they weren\'t consecutive. Our place was up on Gore pass At 8500 feet, sure miss that place.

You told me the trip was more about ATVing and other fun, rather that scouting, but I know you better than that and KNEW you\'d put some boots on the ground off trail eventually. Creature of habit? ;)
