Turns out, our company decided to outsource their engineering needs and had the entire engineering department escorted out on Thursday. Interestingly, I\'m looking at a slight career change as a result. We shall see.

Sorry to hear that Lark, unless you were thinking about a slight career change and just needed a nudge.

Bummer...... How long where you there?

Not sure what engineering you do but the company I work for hires environmental engineers quite often.

Bad deal Lark... :downthumb: :downthumb: Hope something comes up for you soon... :upthumb: :upthumb:

that sucks lark. happened to my daughters father in law a few months ago. exact same thing. engineering dept and had them escorted out. how insulting is that. keep your head up, it will turn out fine in the end.

Sorry to hear that Tom. Everything happens for a reason though. This could be the opportunity that allows you to make the career change if you decide to do so. Either way, good luck with everything! Let us know if there is something in particular that you are looking for. Never hurts to extend your network a bit :upthumb:

The panic has officially set in. The career change has not worked out as I had hoped, entry level pay is NOT going to cut it. I have been looking at engineering positions again and I get a stomach ache every time I apply for one. 18 years of that hell, 4 different layoffs.

I applied for some local gov\'t positions today, for the Town. It doesn\'t pay quite as much (-10%...not bad) but I could ride my bike to work. I\'ve never had that as an option...I always seem to live a long ways from where I work.

This hasn\'t helped the marriage at all. Wife is pissed, stressed, etc.

I\'ve never taken a job for granted before, I always work my tail off.

Looking forward to a steady pay check to come in again.

:help2:

I hope you get a steady job soon. I also hope you find one you like. It is nice to enjoy your job. Almost like you don\'t have to work doing what you enjoy.

Mechanical. Last gig I was project engineer for the company that that makes majority of the medical interior for air ambulances. I busted my butt for that place but it was an awful place to work. They brought in a consultant and he recommended clearing off the engineering from the books and outsource. Sure enough the president of our division drank the cool-aid and that\'s that.

Currently, I\'ve been trying to get back into engineering sales...problem is, they require a lot of experience with their product, or a software background which I don\'t have.
