What\'s the best gaiters for elk hunting? I\'m working on a Christmas list and don\'t have a clue. I\'ve read Kennetrek makes good gaiters, any suggestions?
I recommend the OG Crocodile Gore-Tex gaiters - they are around $80. They are extremely well built and tough as nails. The closure is front facing full Velcro system, hook loop attachment at the laces and an extremely durable boot strap. I have had mine for about 7 years and they are a great piece of gear and the best gaiter I have used.

Roman how is the Velcro for making noise. I have got rid of any Velcro from my hunting gear because of the noise it makes. Also are they good in low temps and not get stiff from the cold.
Francis, there is a considerable amount of Velcro, as it is the closure system, and it is around 1.25-1.5\" wide and runs the length of the front of the gaiter. If you do a quick pull-apart of the gaiter to get it off, then yes, it will make a lot of noise. I don\'t typically take them on and off a lot during a hunt. The noise made at camp putting them on typically isn\'t an issue, when I take them off is when the noise is produced. If you need to take them off during a hunt, I just throw a coat from my pack over them to muffle the sound, and/or, just slowly pull them apart to minimize the sound. The Velcro doesn\'t make any noise for me when I am wearing them, so it is just a little timeframe during the hunt putting them on and off that one has to deal with the Velcro sound.
I don\'t do many hunts past the middle to end of October here in CO (mainly bow hunt in Sept), but I haven\'t had any issue wearing them in freezing temperatures. If you rub your lower legs together when you walk, then the Cordura will make some noise. My legs don\'t rub together, so that isn\'t an issue for me.
For me, gaiters need to work well for adverse weather, mud to morning dew on bushes/grass/etc. I like the Gore-Tex on these Crocs as they breathe and the durability is top notch.
These may not be the best for you if you do not want to have Velcro in your hunting set up, but if you want a durable gaiter that breathes this is a very good product where I think you could mitigate your noise in getting them on and off by adding a couple minutes to the install/removal process.
