Just loaded my new pack. I believe I can bivy four days at a time with this set up. Kind of proud of her. First piece of elk gear I\'ve ever owned. Other than the extra food and clothes back at the truck this will be home for two weeks, can\'t wait.

To tell you the truth, my wife is fed up with me. She\'s sick of hearing my calls and me talking about this trip. I think she\'s looking forward to it getting here as much as me but for all the wrong reasons :lolno:

I feel like I\'m 12 again going on my first deer hunt!

Made up my rations for my bivy camp this weekend. All I have to do is add a bagel for my breakfast and they\'re ready. I think I can put four in a compression bag and strap to the top of my pack. I may look a little redneck doing it this way but it\'s not like I haven\'t been accused of being one before

There are some entree portions of MREs in there as well. I also have almonds and banana chips. That\'s quite a few more calories than what I\'m used to eating. Not looking forward to the MRE part though. I haven\'t touched them since 2004. I\'m hoping I\'m hungry enough they taste better than I remember.

40 days for us. I am slowly getting things together as I find them.... wore the new boots last weekend to get them broke in. finished my 1/3 iron man triathlon yesterday. got my butt kicked so now I know that I am physically ready. we head out to scout on aug 7th, I am so ready to put boots on the ground. btw, did you get your truck fixed?

Sure didn\'t. It just started working on its own. Figure it only has to lock in one time out there. I should be okay.

Packed up all my hunting clothes in my \"deployment box\" last night. Slowly but surely my list is getting shorter. I want to get all of the packing and gear stuff done so I can spend my final week or two going back over maps and formulating my final game plan.

Yessir, I plan to put 4 of those meals in a compression sack and lash to the top. I also have a S&W .40 on the side of it. It\'s mainly for looks in the house to ease the wife\'s mind. Not sure if I\'ll pack it in the mountains though.
