Glasses and Elk Hunting

So I finally admitted that I need glasses. Turns out in need progressive lenses.(bifocals without the line)

Now, the only problem is that when I look through the top part at the target my pins become blurry. When look through the bottom part of my lense the pins clear up but the target becomes blurry. Did I really need glasses! :lolno:

Anybody else shoot with progressive lenses?

I have that same problem with open sights on a rifle/muzzy. I find it\'s best to not wear any glasses, and have everything just a little blurry.

I never liked progressive lenses. It\'s blurry inbetween the two lenses. A regular bifocal seemed better for me, but not for shooting.

The only way I can see the target, and the sights clearly is a scope.

I have the progressive lenses and they work just fine for everyday use. It just takes a little time to get used to them. But when I\'m hunting, I don\'t wear them. I have some Foster Grand fold up reading glasses that I stick in my pocket for reading maps and smaller stuff. Besides, the glare from my glasses is terrible when looking into the sun.

I\'m having cateract (sp) surgery very soon so I hope I may be able to go without glasses after that. My hunting will be limited this year. My neighbor had it done last month and went from blind as a bat to 20-25.

I\'m wearing them. You should focus on the sight pins after you have acquired your target. Accuracy does not suffer much at all, provided you\'re not shooting at running targets. I can group arrows at 4 inches at 60 yds with them. Sounds like you haven\'t adjusted to wearing them. Now going down steps is difficult.

i dont, but my corneas are mis shaped an i have had to have a corneal transplant an wear hard contact lenses (they are a pain in camp getting in in the morning). so i feel your pain. good luck, sucks not to be able to see well.

My distance vision has started to fail in the last few years, so I got driving glasses. I WILL NOT HUNT WITH GLASSES!
No matter what I do, they seem to fog if the weather gets wet or cold. Drives me crazy

And, I just can\'t seem to see trying to deal with contacts during a ten day hunt :downthumb:

My binos are always on my chest. I\'ve only had one shot on an elk at over 40 yds, and the rest were less than 30.

I shoot bare bow, instinctive. When I see the animal, I just pick a point in the blur where I want the arrow to end up, and let \'er fly. :D

It worked well for me last weekend on a 30 yard quartering away shot (and he was on the move) :upthumb:
