Heading up for 4th season by myself for cow elk. Have a couple ideas that I was hoping to bounce off someone that has been up there. Anybody?

Never hunted Unit 27, but feel free to PM me with your ideas. I\'d be happy to take a look and throw an opinion and I\'m sure many others would as well!

Couple days away from my late hunt rifle cow hunt. I\'m already cold! Single digits at night and highs in the mid 30s during the day. Calling for 5-8 inches of snow the night I get there. Could be good if I can find elk.

Anybody have any advice hunting in these conditions?

Thanks!

I remember rifle hunting late season up there.
Brrrrr....

Get out early and watch them coming off from feeding areas. Is there any logging clearcuts around?
They are like gold as the grass attracts the elk.

Try to get in place where other hunters can move the elk to your location, wait, wait wait...
Mid mornings can be the best times

Good luck!

I figured they would be out a good portion of the day trying to get enough nutrients to stay warm. There\'s an old burn I saw when I was up there. It\'s right off the main road though so not sure if it will see any action.

I will probably spend a decent amount of time hunting from the truck Wednesday and try to find elk, especially if there is fresh snow to find tracks. Not sure how much pressure there will be and where the elk will be.
