As some of you may know, my son took a job in N. Minnesota for the summer as a Wind Turbine Technician Intern

Today was his first day going to 285ft

I did my tour of 25 years in N. Minnesota [Lake of the Woods] I think I\'ll sit this one out... :)

Is he going to hang a stand up there???

He may :)

Not for me!!! I\'ve done the foundation pad design for several wind farm turbines in north central illinois, and it made me uneasy standing at the bottom of these watching the techs climb them...takes nerves of steel to climb them and still have your wits about you to work. The techs definitely have my respect!!!

Yeah, not for me either but glad to see he has the initiative and guidance for an intern job leading to a future career. Speaks volumes for you too Brad. I got a little different approach from my Dad because of not wanting me in his line of work.

My Dad was an ironworker so I worked for their company in the summer. Remember to this day sometimes it\'s not best to be early - was first on the outside elevator in the am and needed to stop at 7th floor to lay decking. Well, elevator goes to top first! Had to get off on 22nd floor on a 12\" beam and wait for the connectors to unload. Building was swaying about a foot each way! Took a couple of years for the \'guys\' to drop back down into place!

Here is a short video of the rotor and deck area of a wind turbine

Good exercise climbing a ladder for hiking the mountains. I am sure by the time he reaches the top his legs feel it.
