Well I made it home after a long great trip. I brought home a freezer that has some good eating meat in it. :upthumb: A couple others in my camp did all so. I\'m unpacking now and washing hunting gear now because deer hunting started today here. I will get some pics put up soon.

Well here the story. We got into camp on Thursday and set up then did some glassing in the evening and only saw a spike but the bulls on a private ranch where singing all ready which was nice to hear. Opening morning was really quite for most of us but my aunt had some action. One down opening morning. A nice fat cow.

After my aunts elk it got pretty quite for a few days. Some of my group saw a few but could not got anything in range for a shot. Still hunter needs to have me come out and follow him around bear hunting though. I don`t know what was going on this year but all I saw for the first 6 days was bears. I had 3 within 15 yards. Even when I got home and went WT hunt Sat. night I had one walk by me. I must have smelled good this year or something.

On the seventh day I still had not seen a elk yet so I was starting to get a little down on myself. That evening I went up to a little seep that I know of and was sitting there when I heard what I was hoping was a elk and not another bear when I saw tan walking through the brush. I could tell by the sound that it was not coming to the seep but going up hill from me so I grabbed Troys Hot heels and gave a couple of cow calls. It got real quite for a couple of minutes then it started walking my way. Yes I thought. Then it stepped out about 40 yards away. Dam I thought just my luck a 3/3. Then as I am looking closer I see it has nice long brow tines on it so after seven days with seeing nothing I did not have to think twice about shooting. It is not a big bull or anything but I am vary happy to have been able to take him.

Nicely done Francis! As they say, you can\'t eat the antlers. Way to join the 10% club for 2014 :upthumb:

Thanks Derek.

My uncle was able to take a 4/4 the last morning we were there so we wound up going 3 for 5 so we had a great trip this year. I think if we had been able to stay longer we would have been able to fill out. The bulls were really starting to get fired up and even saw some starting to round up cows. It was nice to get together with some of my family again and some local guys that I have become friends with. Even met a couple of guys from Texas that helped me out with my bow when my sting came off.
