New guy here. I'm planning on a OTC wyoming rifle elk hunt this fall. Question is since I'll be traveling so far what's the general opinion on bringing more then one rifle.
Welcome Bret. I can only speak for myself I am in a similar situation . I am doing a backcountry hunt in Idaho and will only be bringing one. I trust my bolt action and weight is another issue. If you r goin to be using pack animals then wt won't be an issue
If your traveling that far I don't think it would hurt to bring a backup with you to leave in the truck. You never know when something will happen to your weapon. My father in law fell one day and broke the stock on his gun, that's kind of hard to fix in the field when your a long way from home. Good luck in Wyoming post some picks when you kill a big bull!
I never have, and I guess i'm lucky to never needing one. I never used a scope though, and I think that's what most hunters have a problem with. Most of the time they drop the gun, and then the scope has a problem. Maybe bring a spare scope with quick detach mounts, and of course sighted in.
