Anyone got a good place for a hog hunt?
A bunch of us on this site have been to the Dos Plumas, and another locale in TX.
Just looking for a new ranch to shoot some porkers on.

i\'m 90% sure the texas ranch we hunt is called Crystal ranch..near Ulvalde.

great place. super fun. the water smells of sulphur, so the showers are super fast..and leaves your skin silky smooth..hahaha..

great hog population..big property..but is is hunting over corn flingers.. i argue that this is no guarantee. i\'ve been skunked twice..cuz i suck and cant sit still.

That\'s what the Texans always say about us Colorado boys.
Can\'t sit still long enough for the hogs to come in, always getting down from the stand and walking around!
I say nothing like walking up on a sounder of sleeping hogs in the brush!

Dos Plumas has moved to a different location. Do you think that would be an option? I have tried to contact the owner of the old ranch but no luck.

I know that they raised their prices for hog hunting as well.
Since they moved the hogs have gotten established on the new place pretty well based on the pictures they post on FB.
It would be a kick to get back out there. How\'s your calendar look next year late winter or early spring?

My co-worker just got back from SW Texas last week, right on the Rio Grande and Mexican border fence.
They shot some hogs and had fun, met the Border Patrol, but he says they wont go back.

He told me that not many places allow night hunting, and that what they like to do.

Do you guys know places that allow night hunting?

The Dos Plumas and several other ranches allow night hunts.
There\'s also a place that is offering the heli hunt option, too rich for my blood.

Brad: If you hunt like Lew and me and the rest of our gang does, you won\'t even consider a night hunt. When you get back to the bunk house in the evening, you will hear a knock on the door about an hour later. It will be your tail end dragging in!

Lew: I\'ll be ready anytime from when the buzz worms hibernate to when they pop back out in the spring.

LOL! Mine just showed up at the house last week.

Night hunts with a rifle on a stand might be ok, but spot and stalk pigs is where the action is! Depending on how things go around work over the next couple of months I think me and one of the kiddos will be ready to go in January or February. Dos looks good. I might also have a contact a little closer to Amarillo that will be an open range type hunt. I\'ll let you know on that one.

Just thought I\'d try posting a few hog pics from my buddy\'s land in OK. They\'ve had a shot or two at the big black boar but either didn\'t hit it or the bullets bounced off!
