I have been doing some preparing for our hunting season and began making \"Boil in a bag meals\". When ever I have left-overs from certain dishes I make four qt. size meals and place them in the freezer.

So far I have chicken casserole, pot roast and spaghetti. Next on the list is the cowboy mac and cheese, plain mac and cheese to go with hot dogs, Mexican seasoned meats to add to tortillas.

Do any of you do meals this way?

One thing I learned from last year is that doing dishes while hunting SUCKS! This year, I will be doing these meals for dinners only when back at camp. I figure I\'d have plenty of time to boil water and place a freezer bag into the boiling water.

This won\'t work for those backpacking in but for us doing the truck camping I think it\'ll cut down considerably on prep, cleanup and waste while in the woods.

yep, I am putting together my own boil in a bag meals and using an alcohol stove to boil the water. only dish will be a spoon. there are plenty of noodle or rice based side dishes in the grocery store that are 2-2.5 servings. the wife found dehydrated vegetable chips to add along with any choice of meat in the foil packs; salmon, tuna, chicken, spam. all added together filled me up when I tried one out at home. total cost was $3 including the Ziploc bag!

You\'re putting the bag into boiling water, right? Not adding hot water to the bag...

The boil a meal works great I like making breakfast burrito and put 2 in a vac-seal bag for getting started in the morning.
