Has anyone used a Honda EU2000i generator or some other brand at higher altitude? I am thinking about getting one for a freezer if one hunter tags out early and no power is around.

Yes 2000 is plenty just wanted to know if they would not run at say 10 or 12k. 10 would most likely do it.

I took a heavy old generator once that had a 5hp briggs. The think started ran a bit then died. I couldn\'t get it to run at 8500. It worked great when I got back to 650. lol. I know a person could adjust the carb but I would rather not mess with it and hope the new lighter Honda would run ok here at home and say 10k.

I have a 7000watt Briggs and Straton and it worked at 11k last year, a few trips at 10k and plenty at 8k

I have a Honda 3000 and installed a high altitude jet in it. It would run ok at higher elevation but ran a little better with a new jet at higher elevations. Everyone in are group that goes camping has installed high altitude jets in there generators (2 Honda 3000, 1 champion and 1 kipor 3000).

I picked up a used Honda EU2000i in great shape for 500 on Craigslist. It started up and is clean inside and out. Used 2 years then sat in original box with owners manual the last 5.

I researched the jets a bit. It comes with a #62 jet that is good up to 4500ft. You can get a #60 jet good from 4500-7500ft and a #58 that is used for 7500ft and up. I will check to see what is in it then order the other 2 for about 5 bucks each.

I should be set for any altitude. :D
