How confident are you?

It\'s GO TIME!

Time for preparation is over, so how confident are you that you will punch your tag this year?

I feel with the prep I put in and the knowledge I\'ve acquired, that if I hunt hard (no naps this year  ) my odds are about 75% on a legal elk and about 50% on a bull.

That makes me a happy boy and very excited!

It may sound a little crass, but every time I hit the woods with a bow in my hands, I know I\'m going to at least have an opportunity to kill an elk. Whether I do or not has a lot to do with a lot of things - all the normal stuff that screws up a stalk or set up, wind, bad angle, etc - but if everything is good, I\'m going to kill an elk this year. I\'ve been in a drought the past 2 years (not counting my bear) so I\'m due to put another bull in the freezer this year. As me and my brother, Colorado_Lew say on opening day every year, \"Let the killing commence!\"

im 50 50 rather i kill one, but 100 percent sure im gonna be successful rather i kill or not

I believe we will see some elk. I believe we will be within shooting range of elk. The unknowns are too much to grasp at the moment though, winds, noise, angles, shooting lanes, etc. They could all prevent a shot at an elk.

Its been a helluva summer. Season is 10+ days away and I am not excited in the least.
Confident? Sure. But the \'ho-hum\' feeling isnt the best to have right now.
This weekend I am heading up to set up camp. I hope the switch turns on and the \'fire\' starts burning.

Right on.

Which means: It\'s gotta change soon ... just in time!

Talking yesterday with Wife ... more bad news from old friends, and then more from family yesterday. Seems like it\'s been a summer of discontent, for sure. I agree wholly with the \"Ho-hum\" of Cnelk, but I plan to offer resistance to it as long as I can.

Come join a couple newbies and let our exuberance spark a fire for you! :) You know where we\'ll be camping. :)

I feel 80%-90% confident. It is based on what I have seen and experience with the area.

I am more confident this year than the past 6. I have learned more about how to hunt elk and how to call them. Now the hard part is finding them. I hope there are a few dumb ones where I am going.

For most of the summer, I was in the Ho-um mood because I could not train or prepare until after my house sold. On July 22nd, 0% confident. After 2 August scouting trips and a mad dash to get ready, 50% confident on elk and 50% confident on deer.

100% confident I will have fun.

100% confident that the elk\'s survival instinct means that I need to find one stupid elk or an elk having a bad day and I need to bring my A game into the woods. Each year, thousands of bowhunters find one elk that made 1 or more mistakes which puts those hunters into the 10% club.

I have confidence that I will get into some elk. But this is the first year that I have thought of going at it alone. Hunting partners not pulling there weight has got me in a funk. I know once I am in the woods all the worry will go away so looking forward to that. I am looking forward to going to some old hunting spots that I used to hunt. They closed some access roads into the area so you can only walk in to them, they were good spots this should make them even better.

Like has been said, I am more confident this year than ever thanks to more time spent scouting, learning, etc. I am also 100% confident that I will have a great time. What odds does that give me in filling my tag? Who knows... :D

I\'m 100% confident every time I go out. If I wasn\'t, Id leave my bow at home. It\'s a lot easier to hike without it. If you don\'t hunt with the attitude that you will be successful, you might as well stay at home.

Yeah, but to say it is bragging. I do my best to avoid that.

Thank you Bill and John. I got a late start to prepping for the season, however, my attitude has become more and more positive as we get closer. I have gone over in my head opening day\'s location and strategy. It feels good. I am ready to go!
