So you\'ve just killed your deer, antelope, elk, etc...

You\'re back at the camp and it\'s time for your celebration meal.
What are you making, how are you cooking it, and what are you drinking with it?

Part of the reason I ask, is I know some of you just cook the meat up right on a hot stone. Im very interested to hear how.

For me, the celebration meal is the heart with some tenderloin.

Very basic: Cast iron skillet, pepper, salt, garlic, and a little butter.
For a drink it\'s usually a cold beer while cooking and then an old scotch(neat) when eating the meal.

How about you?

im driving to a restaraunt.

:haha: :haha: :haha: Now there\'s a couple different answers!

I have done multiple things from grilling up the backstraps in camp (we typically have a grill at elk camp) to just celebrating with a couple drinks and having the regular meal in camp. Drink of choice is either beer, red wine, or some vodka and 7up. I\'ll occasionally have a little VO on the rocks as well if it\'s around.

I\'ve missed out on that one. Pretty much always hunted on my own. I suppose I would do the back strap thing, sounds delicious and one of my favorite meals. As for drinks, likely just water quit drinking along time ago. I do keep a jar of moon shine on hand for medicinal purposes though. Probably one shot of that is about all you would need or you could use it to get your fire started

We will have to cook up some backstraps in September :upthumb:

I always told my son we should grill up some backstrap steaks back at camp. Having only killed one big game animal I can say things changed when we got back to camp and decided to haul ass to pack up and head home so we could do the butchering the next day. So, our celebration meal was Arby\'s. :shifty:

deer hunting, we have always grilled up the tenderloins. I plan on doing the same with an elk.
