I love Cory's idea of not wasting his time on spots unless they are a mile or more from the nearest road.  In western Washington how do you find such spots?

I have never hunted western Washington, but here on the eastside it is difficult to get away from the roads unless you hunt a wilderness area. 2 years ago I thought I had made it away from the roads and atv's, only to find that someone with an atv drove around a blocked off road. They went a couple miles in on an partially overgrown logging road and set up camp in the bottom of a canyon. I have been able to locate  a few areas with Google earth and on x maps. Then driving to the area and hiking around.

Wa. Is just road heavy. East or west in my opinion it doesnt  matter. They only good way (imho) to get away from the roads is to hunt the wilderness. But even with that the wilderness areas are getting crowded, depending on where you go. I personally am fed up with the overcrowded units and marginal hunting. So its Idaho for me, from here on out.
