I know this gets asked a lot, but with people planning their hunts, I\'ll throw this out.....

On an average elk, how many coolers and what size would you use to store that meat?

Lets play two scenarios:
- Fully deboned elk
- Quartered down elk

We fit FireTiger\'s cow elk into a single 150qt cooler last year. A bull would need more space.
Boneless or bone in.

My 13 cubic foot freezer works just fine :upthumb: I also have room for a partners bull or I can stay till the end of the hunt and help with no worries about the meat.

My last Bull from WY, I had it processed and could not fit it in a 150 qt cooler I had to use a smaller one along with it.

My Colorado Bull I had it processed and I was able to fit it all in 1 cooler.

I always bring two

I always have my 150 qt, and a couple medium coolers along for the ride. I keep food in one, drinks in the other and the big boy doesn\'t get opened until we get an animal. So far...I haven\'t had an elk down yet, just a deer. One of these days I may get to answer this question specifically for an elk. :(

We like the 150 qt cooler. Last yr we took old small box freezer . Did not get to use it for elk but sure keep food frozen. Ran it only during day.
