I just got back from a nice afternoon of antelope scouting, church, chores, and shooting my bow.

When I was shooting I noticed (I have actually been paying attention the past few times shooting) that I am not steady shooting until after 4-5 shots. I am hitting my mark, but I am dialed in after 4-5. So I was wondering. Does anyone else shoot before you go out for your hunt? Or is your shot at your animal a cold bore shot?

I am thinking about shooting a few before I start going out now, just to loosen up!

I was just wondering what everyone else does. :dk:

Dan
On chilly mornings I will draw my bow a few times to loosen up my shoulders and check my back tension.

I will typically shoot a few arrows at camp during the day to stay focused

Sounds like a good idea Brad.

I used to just stretch before I went and throughout the day, but I have noticed a big difference once I shoot a couple first.

I mostly sit on the ground for my elk setups, therefore, I get cold on those CO September mornings. Every 15-30 minutes, I come to full draw and let down. Not exactly practicing, but it keeps my shoulders warmed up.

In camp before I leave to hunt, I use the bowfit safari weight rubber band exercise thingie to warm up my upper body. Plus I do some upper body stretching and popping of my shoulders. I have not yet shot an animal, so I don\'t know if these exercises will pay off or not.

I just shoot 61 pounds now. So much easier than the 70+ I used to shoot. Also when I practice, the first shot is the one I.am most concerned with. It\'s usually 52 yards. I don\'t shoot lot of arrows in one session but rather shoot several sessions. I plan on taking a target out to Colorado to take a few practice shots and make sure nothing moved on the trip out there.

If you don\'t mind me asking, what makes you pick 52 yards of all numbers?
