How much cover?

This topic came up the other night with a newer bowhunter that isn\'t terribly successful. They made the comment that they\'re always look for that perfect spot to call/sit with lots of cover. I told them they need to stay still when the elk can see them and not worry about finding the \"perfect spot\"... elk are where you find them. The conversation reminded me of this older video of ours, which really illustrates how you can be right out in the open if you\'re not moving.

Plus seeing that old footage, being surrounded by elk get\'s me fired up!!

I agree that you don\'t need much if you aren\'t moving. My first day bow hunting we had a real nice 300+ bull come right at us from on top of a hill and we were all out in the open in an aspen grove caught off guard. He walked to within 20 yards of 3 guys standing there with no real cover. The problem with that is it\'s real hard to draw on a bull coming right at you...
