I am wondering what your hunting plans are. It will be our secret. The Lord willing, I plan to leave August 25 for hunting camp. The season opens August 30 and lasts for 30 days. I plan to primarily go after elk, but if a descent buck comes around, he may not survive. A cougar is still on my wish list. No bears are on my agenda. I plan to stay gone until I get an elk, or the season ends. That would mean I could be gone 36 days to eastern Oregon.
I am hoping at some point to meet up with John Fitzgerald, and am confident I will see Stringunner and Olympushunt, plus a few others.
Okay, I revealed my plans, so what are yours?

I\'ll hunt for a week in September ... Not entirely settled on when yet. It\'ll work or it won\'t ... but once D-day is set, it\'ll be a \"go\" come rain or come shine.

Anyone ever wonder about posting this stuff on the internet? I mean ... wouldn\'t it be good information for a thief to know about? (In my case, I don\'t worry so much ... Wife is a good shot and doesn\'t put up with much. But if I lived alone, or had a more vulnerable situation, I might worry.)

Leaving on 27 August. Driving straight through. Probably take a nap when I get there and then check my gear and shoot my bow. Stay up that night and listen for bugles. Strike out on the 29th to scout and set up a bivy camp and get a good night\'s sleep. Go back to the truck to re-stock every 3-4 days and then depart on or about 12 September unless I really think I\'m close to making it all happen or should be blessed with a bull before then.

Just because I am gone does not mean my home is unoccupied.

steve, make sure you check out that lower, first, pasture I told you about and see how fresh that sign is. I haven\'t been there as early as you are, but I know it gets hit 2 weeks later. my guess is that since it stays really green there, that they use it for a long time.

Pulling my son out of school Aug 29 and heading out to the spot. Hoping to arrive late morning, set up camp and scouting that evening. Will be there until Sep 6 unless we have filled the coolers full of elk. :)

The rest of the weekends will be in another OTC unit closer to home where I have my deer tag and will hunt deer and OTC elk if the first weekend doesn\'t pan out for (n)either of us.

I can\'t wait!

I plan to leave late August 27th or early August 28th. I have cams up now so am hoping to check cams the first two days (two days before opener) and place stands if I can\'t get back up there between now and then. I plan to hunt August 30-September 14th strait. I will then return home for 4 days to spend time with the wife and kids. Returning to hunt the 20th-24th. I have to report to campus on September 28th this year for work so that is going to cut my season short by 4 days! Dang it!

I plan to meet up with Swede on many occasions and hopefully will be helping him pack a bull out this year!

I will leave on August 28th after work. I will make it to camp on the 29th. I have 3 weeks off work to get the job done. I have another bowhunter meeting me to hunt the second week. I hope to learn a few things from him as he has had much success.

we are leaving on the 6th and coming back on the 19th, 19.5 hour drive one way. hopefully we will have some elk to with us to help with the drive home...

Going the first week and and probably into the second. Take a few days off and then hit it again if I dont have an elk down.
May just have to slip up WY and call one in for Deertick....

I\'ll be going 2nd rifle this year...just not positive on where yet. Unfortunately, I\'ll only get a few days to get the job done this year.

if i can snag a leftover tag i will be mulie hunting from the opener til about the 14th, with a few days off in there to shower an recoup. then its up to elk camp til the 28th. then back to reality

Heading up Friday, August 29. Hunting August 30-September 7th for OTC elk (either-sex and antlerless). For the other weeks, 4 day weekends with one for a backcountry mule deer hunt.

Plans may be interrupted by work issues and/or hip/pelvic issue. I am in PT for a pelvic misalignment issue which at times is causing severe pain and limping. Therapist prefers that I do not hike. I will find out this weekend if my body is up for hiking. I have 4 weeks of PT to put myself back to together. Work is causing some issues as well for my plans. I may have to take it a little easier for this season.

Going back to Montana again this year and we have it down to two units. We are going to fly over them this weekend to narrow it down further. I\'ll I know right this moment is I\'m taking the last two weeks of Sept. off to get it done.
