Seeing how I am moving to Florida, I\'ve been researching whitetail hunting areas in: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

I\'ve already accidently applied for Tennessee and Arkansas quota hunts and ACCIDENTLY marked my calendar for Kentucky and Mississippi application dates.

I\'ve millions of acres to hunt within 8 hours of where I\'ll be stationed.... game over!!!! The freezer will be VERY happy this year.

Oh... and I\'m still making a trip to Okalahoma to me spot with little deer. :tease:

I don\'t know anything about the WMA you applied for but do know there is a WMA closer to Florida that has some good sized deer that there is quota permit for archery... You might look at Freddie Black Choctaw Island WMA Deer Research Area East Unit which is a flatland uint next to the Mississippi River... Choctaw Island is a pretty new WMA and was a private hunting club before it was sold to the AGFC... I\'ve not hunted it but have been on it several times just to look... I once applied for a Mobility Impaired Rifle Hunt (which they no longer offer) and was draw but was unable to hunt because of health problems... I had a map stored on my computer marking areas I was going to try to hunt since there was only 15 or 20 permits issued but I can find it now... Must have lost it in some computer repair I had done since then... It has about the same regulations as Rick Evans does... Season dates were Sept 26, 2015 thru Jan 31, 2016 last year and should be close to the same dates this season...

Hope you draw the Rick Evans permit... It is more up and down and small hills that Choctaw Island..... :upthumb: :upthumb:

I just noticed that Choctaw has changed there reg a bit since I applied and you no longer have to kill a doe before you can kill a buck.... The kill a doe 1st rule had made the doe on Choctaw wiser that most of the bucks... I would guess that the same now hold true on Rick Evans..
