This guy is a pretty neat looking bull!

He lives in my honey hole which is loaded with cows, so I am hoping that once the velvet comes off that he wont venture too far away!

Yeah, those crowned antlers are cool!

He isnt that big so there is good chance he wont stray far from the cows early

Yes, very impressive rack! I love those freaky looking ones. Hope you slap a tag on him early!

Not a problem! He\'ll be there until a bigger bull runs him off when the first smelly cow comes in heat.. Bulls like this that are hanging with the cows are the main reason many hunters think the rut has started early.

I like those crowned antlers too... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Don\'t Roosevelt elk have crowned antlers or is it some other breed of elk?????

Red Stags have crowned antlers.

Do you see many crowned antlered elk in the USA???? Is that elk Dan has the pictures of kind of odd or unique for NM?????

No offense to that guy Dan, but I have seen some much better bulls out of your pics. But that is definitely a cool bull!

Phil, this is my third year hunting this unit and this is the first time I have found junky bulls.... let me attach some more that I have showing up.

Derek.... I have MUCH bigger and much more mature elk, but who knows if I will ever see something cool like this again.
I would be so happy to take him! However, if I knew I could hunt that spot again next year I\'d love to see what he looks like a year older!!!
I have a few bulls that need to be careful this year.

As far as other goofy bulls I\'ve got showing up...

Notice in the first picture his main beam does this odd U and then gets all funky. I think his main beam split and we are seeing G1-2 in one section and then a funky beam carrying the rest. He is young, but cool!

If I see this guy I am shooting him in a heart beat. He has a larger frame, a crown and seems older than the other two bulls I\'ve posted.

Yep, the crown gives it some character!

Looking good Dan !! I think your in a good spot and if the cows stay you will be running into all of these bulls at some point !!

Either way I don\'t think those animals will move far unless some pressure is put on them. Be ready to use some whiny yearning type bulls sounds along with cow and calf mews and these younger bulls will be running you over !!:)
