I\'ll have to wait 6 years...

Called my taxidermist today and found out he not only forgot to submit my mountain goat score into the Pope and Young, but he forgot to measure it entirely. I guess he had to do it by last December in order to get in the P&Y book, since they only put out a book every 6 years. No biggie, I measured it at 9\" and 9 1/8\" in length.

It will be cool to be in the book, that but wasn\'t my goal or expectation. I don\'t really care too much, as it was on me to make sure he did it - but I wasn\'t even thinking about being in the book - I was just stoked I was able to harvest a goat. I didn\'t call him last year, as I was still beside myself with not even seeing a moose on my CO moose hunt after 14 days of strait hunting for Bullwinkle.

What are your guys/gals thoughts on record books, and does anyone have any entries in P&Y or B&C?

Roman
I have a WT entered in PY and my moose in BC
I have a couple elk that would make PY but won\'t enter them.

My take is entering an animal is more out of respect for it and to honor the symmetry of the rack

I have nothing against people that enter or don\'t enter an animal.
Lots do and lots don\'t

It is kinda cool to see your name printed in what many consider a history book :)

Sorry to hear that, Roman!

As far as the books go, I think it\'s neat thing.
I\'ve got a whitetail in it.

I think for most people it\'s a fun little thing to do and like Brad said, it honors the animal.
Then I think there are a small group of people who the book is all to stroke their ego. I stay away from them :D

I have several P&Y whitetail. I have not entered them in any books. I don\'t know what the minimum is for elk. Even if I arrowed a 360 or 380 bull this year I wouldn\'t list it anywhere. I might put a tape to it just for my own knowledge. I would honor my trophy by hanging it on my wall with pics and of course memories.

I have never kill anything that would be considered for any record book except mine...

If I did I would guess that I\'d be like Terry...

I don\'t have a problem with records as long as the critter is taken legally and not a game farm raised critter...

i personally wouldnt enter any in a book, but have no problems with those who do. disclaimer warning though, here in mo i know a few guys who have entered animals in the book, and several were literally followed around by other hunters the next year trying to figure out where they hunt, an road hunt around private ground.

I had never shot anything that was big enough till the buck I shot last fall. He would easily make P& Y but I have no plans on entering him. I just happy with the thought that he would.

I have a Whitetail and a Pronghorn that qualify for P&Y. I don\'t enter mine as it would ruin my reputation for shooting the first animal I see. :mg:
