i\'ve never been to Montana for any reason. seems like Elk is a good reason to drag me across their border.

i like looking at new places almost as much as i like elk hunting, so i think Montana it is. there are a LOT of units..my boss has a cabin in unit 214 i think he will let us use as base camp..four guys have chimed in commitments, and all four dont mind roughing it..but a cabin for the occasional shower would not suck. :)

when you go to a state for the first time, what are your steps? i\'m thinking of digging out my magic 8-ball :D

When I go out of state or to a new area my main concern is map study. Where can I try to get away from others. I bring everything I will need for the trip. My showers are warmed water poured over my head sometimes it is just straight from the stream  . I try to top off with fuel at the closest town to my campsite so I can drive to plan B thru Z spots.

I am ready to start planning for 2017..........Is it September yet?

I have been there 3 times, with this year being the most recent. This year the area I chose to hunt was great at first but then I got all kinds of pressure from all over and I should have relocated as the hunt progressed.

I have a OnXMaps MT chip for Garmin your welcome to borrow if you need it as I wont be going there next season.
