I just checked the weather and it is suppose to be just above freezing this Friday night where I'm going hunting. It is also suppose to snow. Anyone have any experience archery hunting in snow and such cold weather in September? I'm presuming it will really get the bulls going, but never have I hunted September like that. Might be a cold night or two till the cold front moves on. It is suppose to warm back up by Monday. Hopefully I can get one Friday when its cold, it will keep the meat longer and I won't have to rush as much to get him out of the hills.

From my experience, the cold weather usually gets them going hard. I have never hunted a September without that kind of weather (snow and freezing temps).

Hopefully they go crazy for ya!

never been in that kind of cold in September but I would kill for those kind of conditions! Animal activity should be great and tracking, finding sign, and seeing elk should be much easier if you get snow.

MT_mulies you starting a day early this year?  ;)

I actually live in Idaho now. So my season started last weekend. I wish I was still a Montana resident, but work says otherwise. I can still buy the Montana native tag, but we moves this year and are buying a house so I couldn't quite justify the tag.

id rather have to wear an extra layer out of the tent than wanting to strip into my underwear just walking down the pack trail

You been out yet? any bulls giving themselves away? i am trying to remain calm but am getting antsy to get out with the bow in hand

I haven't been out yet. I am going this weekend and will be gone for a week. I did see where I live now (Malad Idaho) a six point bull, with a rag horn, two spikes and 21 cows. So they are starting the rut here or at least herd up.
