Hello guys and gals, well sorry that I have been away for about 6 months, I was gearing up to go Elk hunting with my uncle in Idaho and then I had a job offer in August to work as a Corrections Officer in North Dakota and I jumped at the opportunity and moved myself to North Dakota and was at work after being in North Dakota for a week and then I moved my wife and the rest of our things from New York over to North Dakota. So I had to put all my hunting plans on hold and focus on moving and my new job and career.

I wont lie though I was bumbed out about not going Elk Hunting for the first time with my Uncle and I was bumbed out about leaving my deer hunting stomping grounds, and I just got caught up in self pitty and worried that I wouldnt hunt again that I stopped reading my hunting magazines and shooting my bows. I am glad to say that about a month ago I finally snapped out of it did research and found some good public land to hunt deer and I will be planning on going Elk hunting this coming September in Idaho. I also have plans to do some Antelope hunting in South Dakota and also Turkey Hunting! Im sorry that I had my head in the sand and that I got stuck in my own self pitty party..

I don't know where in ND you're at or what you're land was like in NY but the view from 10,000' is that you made the right move as an outdoorsman.

A lot of whitetail experts are thinking the next record might come out of ND (although it just got broke by a TN deer  ;) )]It's an absolute sleeper state for big deer. There's pretty good mule deer on the western side of the state, you're a stone's throw from MT with easily accessible tags, you have some of the best walleye fishing in the country, you always have SD for deer and antelope (ND is hard even on the residents for rifle tags). MN is a great state to vacation and fish in... Waterfowl and upland are 2nd to none in ND, etc... I don't live in ND but have spent plenty of time there. It's a great place for any outdoor oriented person.

Thank you! I have herd great things about the fishing and waterfowl and upland bird hunting here also! I have a good friend who I work with that has shown me some great deer and her husband got an amazing whitetail this year with his bow. I am looking forward to all that North Dakota has to offer and I will for sure be checking out MT and SD! Thank you again my friend
