I got my chainsaw all sharpened up, truck loaded and gear packed - mosquito spray too
Going to try to get up and move some tree stands again tomorrow.
My son and I are spending the night, cook some WISE food samples up on the alcohol stove and see what we can see.
I hope to be able to post an update in the evening if the cell service cooperates

Anyone else going to the woods?

I took my morning run through the woods this morning i looked for elk sign along the way but didn\'t see any. Between the humidity and no elk sign i think WV is the wrong place to be for this.....lol

Take the mosquito spray for sure. I spent last Sunday thru Tuesday at 10,000 ft. and the musquitos were horrible.

Dang mosquitos ...

A new specie moved in to our neighborhood last Monday or so, and is very aggressive. The previous skeeters were only mildly aggressive, but these guys are like little Terminators.

I\'m going to get some yard work done today, and then get the ATVs out tomorrow and look for some \"back-up\" spots, and maybe do some hiking.

yep, ate us up last weekend if we stood still for a couple minutes. had to keep moving. glad im not camping

I need to get out and scout. Looking for a new spot close to home for the opening week of CO archery elk.

Pics?

I want a review of that new dehydrated stuff. I need to get ordering something for my summer trip!

On top of a mountain right now back from a scouting loop. All done heading home.
It was a success.

Had a good day in the mountains. We moved one tree stand about 3/4 mile.
Found a live tree that had a couple trees hung up in it that was the perfect location.
After determining all was safe we set up the stand.

We were pretty lucky with the weather. There was a good breeze that kept the mosquitoes at bay.
We made the WISE food for supper last night.
Stroganoff with noodles and cream sauce.
The pouch said there were 4 servings so I made the whole package to see.
We ate it all. I would say there were 3 servings

The taste wasn\'t too bad. We didn\'t add the enclosed salt packet. Most people would probably want more seasoning but I wanted to taste it without to determine the base taste.
Would I eat them again?
Yes

Also used the alcohol stove to heat the water.
The only drawbacks I see with small stoves like that is wind and they are tippy.

But 1.5 oz of alcohol heats 3-4 cups of water in just a few minutes.

I will post more stuff we did on another thread.
(I tried out my Tyvek waders)

I don\'t ever want to hunt a place as steep as where you have your stand Brad. It looks nice but who wants to go where the trees point straight out from the mountain side? I know why the dead trees fell down into the only thing they could hang up on.

Swede
Its truly a magical place.
The pic shows the trees coming out of the mountain side, but if you click on it, they are they way they should be.
The wind is always perfect too :)

Oh, I get it. I am supposed to set my monitor on its side for the correct view. I tried the click trick. It did not change a thing, but I think if I lay down and view things, it will be magic.

brad, what altitude were you at with the alcohol stove? my buddy has commented on the effectiveness of these stoves at altitude.... my rucas has boiled 1.75 cups in Minnesota in 4.5 minutes.
