I say no, but to read some of the garbage that is being peddled these days, a person could led to make a mistake on that point. Some gurus, at least, appear to try and make you think it is. You don\'t need to be in the condition of a marathon runner either. Good shape is very important, but even an older person can be very effective. We all know JF is over the hill, but I believe, even he can get er done. That can be an inspiration to all of us. In fact some of the most successful hunters are getting up there in age. They know the hunting fundamentals and are patient and persistent.
Besides being in good shape, knowing elk basics, having patience and just hanging in there; what else is important for success?

Note: You do not have to say \"read Swede\'s book\"

Dang Swede.....I\'d comment on the \"over the hill\" remark but I\'ve been taught to respect my very elders. :)

Willingness to admit that you, the hunter, doesn\'t know everything about elk hunting and are willing to learn. Perfect world...chasers, spot/stock, still, and tree stand hunters put all knowledge into a giant pool and form a hybrid style of hunting. At least that\'s my first step in world domination( key evil villain laugh). :D

It ain\'t rocket science... There are only 3 aspects to killin\' a elk.... 1st ya gota find um... 2nd ya gota get close to um... 3rd ya got to shoot um...

I guess the 3rd is the closeset to rocket science as ya with the weapon ya use...

1 and 2 are aquired from time in the field lookin\' for um and studyin um... I guess readin a book or watchin a video could help but time spent lookin for um is the most fun in elk huntin...
