Keep pushing or back out?

We are hunting farmland elk and had a good bull come in to 10 yards and he must have got a wif of scent because he turned and busted out.  We decided to back out of the area as it is only about 100 acres big.  Should we have kept pushing the bull or did we do the right thing by backing out and try him later tonight?  He was screaming good until he busted then nothing, he was the only bull talking in that bush.

Definitely backing out.  If you would of pushed him no telling how far he would of gone and if he would of ever came back.  If hes screaming good then chances are sweet talking him with a cow call tonight and making sure you can find a place down wind would increase the odds.  Good luck, hope to see pictures.
