they say the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. well..i like knives.
i have super inexpensive knives (Mora companion.maybe $13) to a custom blade made by a couple of mountain guys in the Adirondack Mtns. (Adventure Sworn - i cant say how much $, my wife might read this), and a few in between. a Helle Tamagami, that is ridiculously cool. steeped in history of Finland and stuff..hahah.
everything is super sharp and can shave my body. i use my Mora\'s on nasty dirty muddy hogs. i have pushed the cheap blade thru the ribs and attempted breaking the pelvis. my limits are my baby arms..i am almost thru the pelvic bone to free the colon, but i think i am not strong enough. i got a bug up my butt to commit to all things carbon..i love carbon knives!! i love the dirty gray patina that is like a stain of your history of cutting. you develop a distinct pattern that reflects how you cut. i butchered my turkey with my adventure sworn and annoyed the holy hell out of my wife when i kept running into the house saying stupidass things like, \"honey, i just swiped thru the leg joint! the knife is still super sharp!\".. \"oh, i can just slice out the breast meat super smooth!\"...\"honey, where are the bandaides?\"..hahah.
anyways, i thought it was all behind me. then someone mentions man made engineered super steels...wait..wut? yup, new steels made just for knives. powdered sintered steels. holy kamolee!! the one i have my eye balls on is a SURVIVE KNIVES GSO 4.1. craziest knife buying ever..they are a startup company. you pay up front, sometimes later in the future you get a knife. in the meantime your money went and helped them buy tools, ramp up production, etc. gah..
i cant own a Havalon just because i am trying to master knife sharpening. i am okay..not wonderful.
