http://youtu.be/Glgma8Wjc5s I found these two guys just hangin out.  It was the third week of September and I was amazed they werent trying to kill each other.  I have heard that the "rut" can vary in intensity from area to area.  When have you found the rut peaks in your area?

Seems to change a little from year to year. Anywhere from mid September to first couple of weeks in October. Last year on the Bookcliffs in Utah the rut didn't fire up until later. I have video of five nice bull elk feeding together when I would have thought they would be separated. I wish Utah archery elk would go to the end of September like other states. I find the peak is usually the last week or two of September.

Believe it or not these two guys could just be nice raghorns in their area. Bulls like that will hang with each other and pester a herd bull and his cows whenever they get a little hormone charged.

Its a little different here every year. last year was the second week of september. the year before was the third week and the year before that was the third week also.

There area i was hunting in Idaho was on fire the last two days of season.  I mean i couldnt go a mile down the road without bulls bugling but with that there was hunters on every corner as well.

I don't know if I'd call those "raghorns" but I have seen satellite bulls like that hanging out and quietly waiting for some action.

THE HERD IS CLOSE  8)

It sounds like some of you are referring to raghorn are thinking satellite.  Satellites can be any size depending on the area, and as long as you aren't the herd bull in the area they can be somewhat social, not like July social, but social nonetheless.
