Swede, pretty sure the crash was the final landing. He was just in a place further away and in an opposite direction than I thought he went once he was downhill. The sound must of carries really well because it sounded closer than it really was. He basically went east and then went south when most likely 9 out of 10 guys including myself thought he would of went north knowing the area.

Aaron, that makes perfect sense. I have heard the crash rather loudly from about 250 yards away. I thought the elk you bumped slightly, was the one you shot. Do you think it was hanging around for his dead partner, and that is why he did not go far at first?

I really think it was just another elk in the area. Never know.

Dang....I experienced a similar situation. Took me a couple weeks to get my head straight and pull the trigger again. Feel for ya brother!

Aaron - don\'t know how I missed this post for 3 weeks - so excuse my late response. Thank you for sharing this experience, as disappointing as it is for you, it certainly offers up help to the rest of the forum for future hunts. Sorry you lost the meat, glad you got some closure.
