Lighted Nocks

Brad (Cnelk) and I were shooting yesterday, and we put a lighted nock on one of the arrows to check arrow flight.

Lighted nocks are legal where I hunt, so now I\'m thinking about using one on my hunting arrows. I think they might be real helpful, especially to find an arrow after a shot.

If you use lighted nocks, let me know the good brands ... and, more importantly, the brands that aren\'t worth considering.

John, I have Nockturnal blue colored nocks. I like them but wish I had got the green ones. I have heard green has better visibility. They are a bit of a pain (I think) to turn off also. So....although I think there is better out there....I would prefer them over nothing. Oregon has not approved them yet to my knowledge. :shh: I definitely can see the advantage in low light to see where you hit.

We used Luminocks on Saturday.
I have had a couple for a few years, only use them for tuning, but now that they are legal, I may pick up a couple more.

Well, I had to order some work pants from Cabela\'s ... and dang-it if I needed just a little more merchandise to hit the $99 for free shipping, so I put in an order for some of the Nokturnals ... (I ordered the red ... dang, maybe I should\'ve hit them for greens).

We\'ll see how they turn out.

I think you will be happy with red! I heard green was good but I can\'t imagine red not being just as good. I just thought blue would be great but I think the green or red might be the way to go. :dk: I will be curious to see how you like them! I really need to do some more low light shooting one of these evenings. I would be fun to compare the colors while shooting.

There is a guy on archery talk that makes and sells a bootleg version of some popular version that works better. Cheaper too! He gets rave, gushing reviews.

I have the red nockturnals and I like them a lot. Depending on how much you use them for practice and such I replace them after two years. 2 of the 3 I had were dead the 3rd year but I think it might help to keep them inside at room temperature in the off season instead of in the garage. I dont think they are hard to turn off at all. I use a the tip off my small pocket knife or a field point tip works great. Broadhead tip would be kind of dangerous though. It has been my experience that they are usually not reusable when you shoot an animal with them.
