Anyone else sick of winter yet?

This time of year is pretty limiting on outdoor opportunities ... today, we\'ve got temps of around 25 with winds of 20+. It\'d be nice to get out and ride, and we\'ll do some work with the horses later, but geez, it\'s not real comfortable.

Cabin fever has set in!

173 days until my elk hunt, and these earlier ones are sure going slow.

deertick, what about a spring bear hunt. something to kill some time. wont be long now

This has been a terrible winter. I should have bought some snowshoes for my mountain hikes, but i\'m a cheap old crow.

Yes this has been a long winter. Got more snow Friday and they are forecasting more this week. Up to 5 degrees today. I need to start shooting my bow for turkey hunting but the snow in my back yard is so deep I can\'t see my target yet.

I keep pretty busy with ice fishing all winter.
Two weeks and I\'ll be in Nebraska with my son chasing toms.

Where are you chasing turkeys? We\'ll be near Broken Bow in another 4 weeks -- going opening weekend for shotguns.

Southern NE near Cambridge. I\'ve got some private lined up and we\'ll also be hunting on Medicine Creek SWA.

Yes it\'s been a long winter but now is my mostest fav time of year to ice fish.
We\'ve gone 4 times in the past week near the continental divide. Weather is always ugly there but fishing has been good!
And between bites we play!

Well, tried to do some basic \"softening\" of the horses today by backing them around a rifle target ...

on a muddy hill ...

in 30+ winds ...

Wife did a better job ... but for the non-riders out there, backing a distracted horse uphill can be a chore ... it\'s a trust-builder, for sure.

my wife found her first horse dead in the pasture the other day..... he was 30. spent all day on Saturday getting him taken care of.....

sorry to hear that zpd307.

We\'ve got a 27 year-old mare now ... wintered well, but you never know. 30 is a long time with a horse. Tell her I\'m sad to hear it.

john, thank you. will do. its been tough for her the last few days. I only knew him as an awnry old coot...
