Making room in the garage

Not sure how my garage continues to look like the set of Sanford and Son, but it does. I wanted to get a little more room, so I purchased some \"Tie Boss\'\" at the ISE this past January. They are a type of lifting and pulley system with an \"auto-lock\" for the rope. I thought I would give them a try to hoist one of my ice fishing sleds off of the ground, so I bought 4.

I finally got around to buidling a frame to put the sled on - with a little help!

The first attempt was to hoist it between two vehicle bays. Well, with the slack in the chain and me trying to be thrifty and not use all 4, but only 2 tie boss\', this attempt failed. The sled was heavy as heck hoisting it from one end with a single tie boss. Then, it sat too low, where I couldn\'t get my pickup door open once the truck was in the garage.

That night I moved junk from the other side of the garage to hiost it up out of the way in another spot in the garage where another ice fishing sled is at - since I didn\'t think I could get it up higher at the existing location and I needed to get my truck into that other bay. I eneded up using all 4 tie boss\' on this endeavor and it was much easier to hoist and I was able to shave a few inches off by not having the extra distance the chain system was needing. The next attemp worked out and now this sled is up and out of the way! I need to sell those Corvette parts on ebay - found them under the crawspace when I bought this house a few years ago...

Great way to use your space. With the kind of help you have available, I can see a lot of productive and enjoyable times in your future.

Derek, those coolers even have water jugs in them! Always hopeful with extra coolers for elk season!

I hear ya, can never have too many!

Roman, when I finished out our garage, I bought 3 of the Kobalt Storage racks when I got my tool boxes. While you can\'t raise/lower them, they work great for lighter weight \'stuff\' like coolers, tree stands, etc... Mine are 4\' wide and the height is adjustable. I found some being discontinued for a newer model but don\'t recall how much - thinking $50 each? Just have to load from one of the ends. Also has the small rack underneath which I use for fishing poles.
