Yep, I sure do miss seeing post from Troy @ glacier country calls and also from Still Hunter. Come on guys. You have a lot to offer. I know you are both out there somewhere in elk land.

Troy hasn\'t signed in for a while.
I just figured he was busy with work, elk season, and making calls.

I want to say his last sign in was July or August.

I am only a moderator here, but to the best of my knowledge Troy and Pete are always more than welcome on the forum. Pete felt he was misunderstood and said he was leaving. I am not sure why we have not heard from Troy. We have not heard from the ladies that used to frequent the forum either. Olympus Hunt and Stringunner are AWOL too. I miss having the opportunity to pester them too.

I do not know just how or to whom this may apply, but please don\'t let posts on this forum hurt you personally. It is easy to write things that are not sensitive to where you are. One of us may misunderstand and say something awful. We may try to be funny, but it can hit like a punch in the stomach. There are very few of you that I have ever met in person. When I offend you, please send me a PM and tell me what a jerk I have been, and I will try to straighten it out.
We want the forum to be a fun friendly place to visit and discuss hunting. We really want to be the go to place for less experienced hunters, especially those looking for elk. My advise to any lurkers is to come in and pull up a chair by the campfire, and feel free to join in the conversation, or add your own. We don\'t know it all, or claim to, but there is a lot of hunting experience available to anyone that asks. It is ok to offer a comment. You won\'t be ridiculed. I like the forum here, because as hunters we can disagree and discuss things without being condescending or nasty.

Good post. As far as I am concerned this forum has been extremely welcoming to me. I have been posting on hunting forums for many years and learned a long time ago that many times things are lost in translation on the internet. What one poster thought was a funny joke is many times seen as something horrible. I have learned over the years to not take anything personal as there are very few guys who post on these forums that I wouldn\'t share a camp with.

Some people get busy and others move on.

But one thing for sure, everyone\'s opinion is welcome on this forum and they will be free from ridicule and persecution. As long as posts don\'t violate the exceptable use policy, it\'s all far game. You can say product X is the best thing in the world but others have the right to disagree.

If someone feels targeted, I would encourage them to PM an administrator or moderator.

We have an Excecutive Panel in place and serious issues will be voted on. No one person gets to control the forum.

What amazes me is the fact that we are all elk hunters here. Thus we are all brothers !!

We can talk with others that are 2000miles away !! Some guys even become friends and will end up hunting together some day !! That\'s a win win in my book !

So pull up a stump and sit around our fire. There\'s no better place to learn. Like posted earlier we don\'t all know everything and that\'s the great thing ! We always can learn something new. I sure have and it can be something so little like a set up tip or calling tip. Sometimes it\'s to smallest thing that leads to a bull on the ground or just a successful call in !!

The greatest tip I just learned was from (WW) and it helped us bring home an elk calling world title !! So don\'t be afraid to ask a question on here as someone may have the answer !!

mathematically/statistically, we cant all get along. that\'s life. some folks just rub people the wrong way. i\'m a PIA to someone - somewhere. i can live with that.

trouble starts when there is this cloak of the internet..and people with thin skin. just dont take things personal. easier said than done..sure. but whatever. just because we all love to chase elk doesnt make us best friends. i know a few elk hunters i wouldnt share camp with. hahah..

i barely know how to take an elk, so pretty much everyone outranks me in knowledge. i can live with that as well. i guess it just quit being fun playing on the forum for some people.

I have found this is a 100% foolproof way of putting internet idiots, or whatever we want to call them, behind you. When they insult you. Ignore them. Stay open and above board. I have said things to some, but it is far safer to keep quiet, and their comment will very soon be forgotten. Folks that frequent forums, know the on-line characters, that are know-it-all legends in their own mind.
Here is another hint on people to be weary of. If they write or behave like they know more than everyone else, they probably hunt a small area and think all the elk world is like their backyard. It\'s not.

I miss hearing from Troy. I tried calling, emailing and texting him but haven\'t heard from him since July.
I agree this is a great place to learn and some of the nicest people I\'ve come across. I\'ve got hunt with a couple of guys from here and you couldn\'t ask for better people to share an elk camp with! I would rather hunt with those guys than my own family :upthumb:
