A shout out to Montana Black Gold sights.

I have an older Montana Black Gold ?Solaris? 5 pin sight [5+ years old]
While hunting out in Nebraska, I remembered that I took a spill while moving one of my tree stands, while carrying my bow. Didn?t notice anything at the time, but?

I was shooting over the weekend and saw that the side cover of my sight was fractured and some of the fiber optic threads were broken.
So, I sent an email to MBG, telling them what happened and this morning I got a reply that my sight is covered under warranty and they will be sending a new side cover piece.

I also got online and found a 5 color .019 fiber optic kit for $12. They are 3ft long so if anyone needs some .019 fiber optics, let me know.

i\'m gonna send my sight in late Jan. i need the last pin switched from a .10\" red to another 0.19\" green..for a green-yellow\\-green pin set.

i just cant see red that great, and it being tiny was a bad decision on my part. duh!! i called them. funny. they said it was either gonna cost me $7 or $0 depending one a few variables included the mood of the tech. hahah..
i\'m gonna squeeze it in before spring turkey so i have time to reset the bow.

great friendly company.

That is great. I had one warranty issue with a MBG sight many years ago. To make a long story short....I ended up with 2 sights. I sent in my sight to be repaired and when they shipped it back it evidently was lost in the mail. About 3 weeks after I recieved another sight from MBG (who made it right due to the lost sight) my original sight showed up. I called them to get info on shipping one of the sights back to them and they insisted that I keep them both due to my troubles. I love their sights and use a 3 pin Ascent currently.

Great sight, great company, and the best guarantee in the industry. I also tweaked my MBG Flashpoint several years ago. I sent it in for repairs and they sent be a brand spank\'n new sight. No charge!

That\'s good to know as I will likely be running MGBs on my new PSE next year. I have found Spot Hogg to be the same way and that\'s one of the reasons I have been so loyal to them!

spot hogg is great as well!!

i stripped a fastener with my giant HAM-fist..i called to get an estimate, and they laughed and told me warrantied covered big dumb fist..(okay, i paraphrased)

When I get my new fibers, Im going to make them as long as I can so the light gathering capabilities are better than they are now.
On the top of my sight, that is where I can loop the fibers around

Painstaking for sure, but well worth it.

I thought the point of the cover that turns purple is to prevent over illuminated pins? They halo for me when it\'s super bright out

Cliff,
That is true, but during low-light conditions, I want as much fibers as I can get

Guess I\'m missing what you are saying Brad. On my Flashpoint, I could still make out the pins just a little bit even when I couldn\'t see the hogs that were directly below me long after what would be legal shooting time for other game. From looking at the pictures, your sight should have the same capability.

See in the pic where my fibers are broken?
Well 3 were broke and 2 werent. The broken ones were definitely dimmer than the ones that had long fibers.

So, when I replace the fibers, I will cut them as long as I can and loop them around in the top part of the sight.

But yes, I had the same experience, I could see my pins long after I couldnt see deer shapes

Gotcha!

Brad,

I am not sure how long you have had your BG sight but from what I understand the fibers do lose some brightness over time. I know mine don\'t seem as bright but I like it that way. They don\'t need to be bright for me but like you said....bright enough to see in low light.

I can\'t remember how long I have had this sight, but it\'s been several years and I bought it used.

I am looking forward to doing the fiber optic rebuild, something I havent done before

I ran into a guy in Alaska that had a little piece of Velcro on the riser of his bow. When I ask him what the purpose of it was, he reached in his pocket and pulled out one of those little key chain squeeze between your thumb and forefinger lights, also with Velcro on it. He used the light in states where it was legal and I bet you can figure out the rest of the story. :wtf: Pretty easy to remove when the wildlife people show up.

Bought this cheap on AT. The bottom pin was missing a washer so I added one and discovered the threads were slightly stripped. After reading Brad\'s post I emailed MGB. They said they would fix it at no cost and have it back to me within a week. I sent it off this afternoon.

The replacement side cover arrived today

That was quick and painless.
Now waiting on my new fibers then rebuild my sight

Thanks for posting this!!!

My son and I both have the Flash-points for sights and he broke his top pin just recently.

I am going to order a 5 pin assortment also so I have some spares in my archery box.

Is the .19 the standard size for these?
