Montana decoy modification

Was thinking about modifying my Montana butt by sewing an inverted pocket towards the top where I can stick my upper limb to hold the decoy in front of me for a final stalk, etc. Good idea or waste of thread?

Interesting ... \"wearing\" it on the side of the bow, like a quiver?

Here\'s my crazy idea. Jaquomo gave me the idea for a hat ... and my son suggested that I put it on the upper riser. It may just work.

yeah, so i would hold the bow vertical but square to my shoulders. Could still have an arrow knocked, and dump the decoy when the shot arises

Not sure if I understand it, but what if you had it attached like a quiver, so you could use it like a \"shield\" ... then turn 90 degrees and shoot?

The other option would be to have it in front of the bow, with a \"shoot through\" hole. I think the heads-up decoy might be better for that.

Yep, we\'re on the same page with attachment to the bow but just hanging so I can dump it to shoot. I am planning to use it like a shield but am worried about to much movement involved it shooting.

Heads Up is made to do that, with a special bracket that attaches to the bow. Seems like the Montana would be pretty unwieldy.

But why not just hold the Montana in front of you, then drop it? In my experience, \"flashing\" a Montana butt is way more effective than holding it statically anyway.

Cuz I already have the montana. Yeah, i guess i can hold the decoy in my right hand and bow in my left. Just wasting time at work brainstorming. thanks for the input.

I think that your idea is pretty good. I\'m interested on what pans out for you.

Several times I have tried moving up on elk holding my Montana decoy in front of me.
I can say that NONE of those times helped me shoot an elk, in fact it prob hindered me.
Sure I got close, but I could have gotten as close without it.
Then I had to let the decoy down, latch on the release, draw, aim.....

Whereas, without a decoy I could have been latched on and then just draw and shoot.

Pros and cons I guess
