Cabelas had the Moultrie-D333 trail camera on sale for $79, so I picked on up to replace my old HUGE trail camera.

Well it\'s been up in the back yard for a week now, capturing a ton of pictures. I\'ve tried the regular motion detect, hybrid (motion detect and timed pictures) and video. The weather here has been spring like. The camera has endured to wet snow falls.

Pro\'s
Good battery life so far. It still shows 99% on the 6 Energize batteries.
Day time picture quality is not bad on high or enhanced (7 MP) settings.

Con\'s
Cruddy night time photos
Video quality is poor (only does 640x480)
Slow trigger time. It is rated at 1.5 second, but I\'m thinking is is longer.

Not sure if good or bad
Pretty darned sensitive. It is picking up motion well over 50 feet away. Some as minor as a limb moving.

Overall, not to bad for $80.

Dana, can\'t recall if you\'re in Colorado Springs or not. Anyhow, I bought a Moultrie D55IRXT and a Wildgame Innovations Micro W6E game cameras last summer for use in Oklahoma. I believe you can get both off Ebay for around $70-80.

If you\'re in COS, I\'d offer to let you borrow these 2 and put next to yours for a side-by-side comparison of the 3. Just a thought. I\'ve been happy with both but the Micro one is pretty small and definitely need your reading glasses to set while in the field!

Don\'t know about the camera, But about 30 pounds of weed and feed sure wouldn\'t hurt your back yard!

I don\'t know about the weed and feed but if that\'s your castle in the background I figure you could hire a yard man :D

Geez, thanks for the support guys.

It\'s the garden spot. It hasn\'t been tilled yet. So much for spending my free time getting this up and running :tease:

Anyway, just went and looked at the camera. It has 3600 pictures since the 27th. Filled up an 8G SD card.

Either it\'s setup wrong, or way to sensitive.

Man those f0xes have mulitplied!

When I leave mine out till spring those fast growning flowers around here play heck with mine, it does good till mid march then one day machine gun photography.
I suspect the cool background and the sun warming the tops up trigger it, toss in a breeze and to a PIR I\'ll bet it looks like a herd of jackrabbits migrating south.
