MT Fort Peck HD 700 cow tag

Just found out that I drew a HD700 rifle cow tag. I have never hunted elk so I'm pretty excited. If any body would be willing to share some of there knowledge with a new comer to the sport I would be greatful forever. Some may not see a cow as a challenge but I'm going to consider it one. I want to start scouting in the next couple of weeks. I do have a boat but if the weather is nasty I need to have some back up plans. Anyone willing to point me in a general direction?

Any elk I a challenge. When I hunt a place I've never been before over on google maps and find a goo place away from roads hike into it and I 9 out of 10 times run into elk sign. Just make sure there are no hiking trails things like that. If you look up at a mountain and go there is no way a person would go up there, there are elk there. Goodluck hope this helped.
