Anybody get out after mushrooms in the spring? Did a lot of bolete mushroom hunting back in the day in Northern California. Any tips or would anybody be interested in heading out? I\'ll cover the gas!

Funny that you would mention mushrooms. Last spring I was out doing some turkey hunting with a couple of guys who haunt this site and at one point we lost one them. After retracing our steps a little we found him filling his pockets with morels. He might chime in at some point but I occasionally do. I have no idea what a Bolete mushroom is as I believe we only have morels here.

I remember that day. I\'m not a shroom guy but have been around them being picked. Morels seem to like old logging and old growth around here.

The morels are really good if you can find them. Put a little flour coating on them and fry them up. :upthumb:

I\'d be up for a morel \"hunt\" this spring if anyone is willing to let me tag along. We have a few places in OK to hunt them but it\'s easier getting someone to let you hunt deer on their place than morels!! A very good friend of my parents won\'t take them to one of his spots but will bring them over part of his haul so Mom will fry them up.

Hard part in OK is timing when they\'ll be up - generally only about a 2 week window.

its funny that you mention that tim! I was just thinking that..... would be another fun bday present again this year

Russ that was actually on my mind. Do people protect mushroom spots in CO? I don\'t know the answer. Like I said, I have an sub and will covers gas. Could take 3 comfortably if it works out.

You guys are going to ride in a sandwich! :haha: :mock:

I don\'t know about Co but up here nobody will take anyone to their spots. They won\'t even tell a general area.
