My son\'s business

Four years ago my son came inside on the first Saturday of the summer break and said he was bored. I was eating lunch at the nook at the time and had a thought. Why not print out some flyers for him to pass out to mow lawns. We started with 10 flyers. He immediately had 2 full time lawns within walking distance, weekly, for $30/week. He also picked up some random lawns for when people were on vacation, he watered flowers when people were gone for long weekends, etc.

He\'s been able to do his lawn business each summer since. Last year he had 6 full time lawns but they were scattered around our small town. I drive him around, help him unload and make sure he is doing a great job.

People seem to really appreciate that he is willing to work hard for some cash. In fact he is already turning folks away at the moment because his schedule is booked.

I hope that one day he\'ll appreciate the fact that he will always have this to fall back on. It\'s not glamorous work but he could possible turn this into a full time seasonal job when he\'s old enough to drive which may earn him enough each summer to never have to work at a McD\'s or bag groceries.

Here\'s to seeing a teen do hard work!

Awesome! I know there are a lot of landscape maintenance companies out there that do really well. No matter what, that is a great way for him to learn and something he could eventually turn into a full time gig if he ever wanted to :upthumb:

careful lark, your teaching him to work, thats not how we do things now days, seriously though, WELL DONE.

Be proud!!!

Not many teens these days seem to have the drive to work for money, and go outside to do it. This is my opinion but it seems like times have changed and those that want to work hard are not as many, and those that want to work hard have the opportunity.

Around here there are a lot of folks that do that for a living... Of course our growing season is longer than ya\'lls but like you say it\'s something he can do even if he\'s unable to get a job elsewhere and he\'s learning to responsibility... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Good for him and good for you...
